Line-Up change for Virgil Donati Band

The "Virgil Donati Band" as it is called looks to be more on the "Jazz" side of things than the rock-fusion stylings(Planet X/OTV) that Virg is known for, even more than the CAB gig. The upcoming gig at the Potato on the 13th features Gary Meeks on Sax, Steve Weingart on key's both from Weckl notoriety and Dave Carpenter on Bass, NO! guitar in this line-up. Should be QUITE interesting to see this kind of line-up with Virg behind the kit.

The news is posted on Virgil's own board. IMO just a branching out for Virgil. Dave Carpenter has strong jazz roots, Weingart the same so go the whole way and add the sax for a change not that the guitar cannot be part of the whole, but it would be interesting to hear this line-up anyway's.

Thanx for the info. I've been jonesing for some OTV live, but maybe the jazz Virgil thing could be cool.

Hey JDouglee I think there is a good chance we OTV fan's can expect some new material down the road. Serious Young Insects BLEW!! alot of people away and their has been quite a few guy's encouraging Virg to do a follow up and I think he is pretty motivated to put out a second effort if you know what I mean. [img]wink.gif[/img] I sure do hope it happen's.

Last year Virgil w/Tony and Ric F played a tune from the upcoming OTV recording. It was more of a 8th note uptempo rocker. I loved it. That would have been a great bootleg! All to say, new material has been in the works for some time now. I'm still trying to figure out where Virg's real "day job" is which I'm sure impacts priorities.
